The Cambridge Stock Exchange project is a mission to create a decentralised regional framework enabling access to market liquidity not only in Cambridge but across the knowledge and innovation intensive clusters of the UK.
the mission
At the time of a larger funding round it is understood that the UK struggles to find access to the larger rounds of capital in comparison to its US counterparts. The best UK companies are often prematurely acquired before the full scope of what they can achieve can be realised or seek to relocate to the USA and are dislocated from their place of birth ecosystem.
technological change
Blockchain technologies and other off-the-shelf platforms or tokens could enable a de-centralised lower cost framework that could be used to securely allow investment into a company.
the opportunity
To access a wider pool of capital the CSE project along with other entities, initiatives and collaborators, and allied to a dose of fresh thinking can transform the mobility and quantum of liquidity available to knowledge & innovation led businesses in Cambridge and other innovation-led ecosystems all over the UK.
